Week 2: Blue Eye

Siberians have a variety of eye colors. Many are spellbinding with their beauty. Eye colors: Varied hues of coppery to brown chocolate brown, icy blue, or bi-color, which is one brown and one blue eye.

Brees obviously has bi-colored eyes. One icy blue eye and one chocolate brown eye. When we first picked her out she was only a few weeks old and her eyes were shut. There was 9 pups in her litter and her mother had 2 blue eyes and her father had 2 chocolate brown eyes. Our chances were pretty good for icy blue eyes, lesbi honest (sorry had to do it, big Jersey Shore fan!!) I wanted a Siberian with icy blue eyes. I am not gonna lie, if she had ended up with 2 brown eyes i would have been disappointed. One of the big reasons a lot of people choose this breed is for their unique eye features. Now, I'm not as cruel as if she opened her eyes and if they were brown i would give her up and choose a different pup!!! (it was an option the breeder told me. they are all business of course.) that would be like saying you wanted to switch your child at birth because they didn't come out like you wanted them too. Like my brother for instance. He came out with devil red hair! The doctor told my mom "IT'S AN IRISHMAN!" she did at first tell him to put my brother back... but seriously we kept him. Even Edward in Twilight has golden eyes if he's not hungry. If they turn red he can't help it! He's a vampire! To our amazement the breeder called me right away because i was probably annoying her with the question "are her eyes open yet???" and told me that she did have one blue eye (YESSSS!!!) and one eye that looked brown but more green. GREEN!? i couldn't believe it because she told me that is very rare. Bree's eye did turn chocolate brown in the end and we did pick out a very special unique pup with beautiful eyes. I honestly do tend to look at her blue eye instead of both eyes when i look directly at her, but i cannot help it. its so ice blue it just attracts you more. I took her to a trainer this spring and his 5 year old grandson told him "grandpa that dog has people eyes." Even if Breeser had 2 chocolate brown eyes i wouldn't change it for the world. I do call her Blue Eye.
